TAS.AC delivered a 120-inch daylight projection system for SILK Restaurant, an oriental grill and shisha lounge on Jl. Subak Canggu, Kec. Kuta Utara, Canggu (Bali). The completed build pairs a motorized Crystal Black ambient-light-rejecting screen with a 7,000-lumen ultra-short-throw laser DLP projector, producing a crisp, watchable image in full open-air daylight for events, sport and screenings. The screen retracts to invisible when not in use.

What did SILK Restaurant need?

Cinema-grade visuals for events and screenings in a high-ceilinged, evening-oriented lounge with open-air light, from a system that disappears when idle. Most restaurant projector setups in Bali fail exactly here: a standard projector on a white wall loses contrast as soon as daylight comes in, and the image is effectively gone by 3pm. SILK needed projection engineered around ambient light, not a consumer unit fighting it.

How the system beats daylight

Daylight projection is a two-part problem: reject ambient light at the screen, overpower what remains with the projector. The Crystal Black ALR fabric reflects projected light back to viewers while absorbing the room’s stray daylight, holding contrast where a white screen goes flat. The 7,000-lumen laser source keeps the image crisp at noon, not just after dark. Ultra-short-throw geometry puts the projector centimetres from the screen: passing guests cast no shadow, every table keeps a clean sightline.

What does daylight projection cost?

Cost is driven by screen size and ALR type, projector brightness, throw geometry and how much ambient light the room must overcome, so the more daylight-exposed the room, the more budget shifts toward brightness and screen quality. There is no catalog price; how TAS.AC prices this work is on /pricing/.

Results at SILK Restaurant

The system is completed and installed: a 120-inch image that stays crisp in open-air daylight, and a motorized screen that retracts to invisible between events. SILK Restaurant holds a 5.0 of 5 TripAdvisor rating (accurate as of June 2026). Per TAS.AC project knowledge, SILK moved from concept to signed build quickly, one of the faster decisions in the portfolio.

Projection for your venue

If your Bali restaurant, lounge or beach club wants projection that survives daylight, the deciding factor is the room’s light conditions. TAS.AC scopes the ambient light, sets the required lumen budget and screen type, and delivers a motorized system that disappears when idle.
